Why aren't you preserving wealth in non-depreciating asset-class goods, rather than wasting money on disposables, /biz/?

This Eames chair can be had in good second hand condition for $3800. In five or ten years I can sell it for as much as I bought it for or more, adjusted for inflation. Essentially, I rent the chair for nothing. If I'd bought a cheap chair, I would've wasted hundreds of dollars. The cheap chair cost me more than the expensive one.
