In 2017 I bought a motherboard with intel optane memory thinking since it said memory it must mean they bundled in ram. Then after overspending on the mobo with this I had to buy ram when it didn't post. I'm using that 32 gig intel optane stick as swap space today which is all it's really good for.

2017年我买了一块带Intel Optane内存的主板，以为既然写着“内存”那就是自带RAM。然后在这破主板上多花了钱，结果开机没反应还得自己买内存。现在我把那条32GB的Optane当swap分区用，那也就是它唯一的用处了。

It said memory and 32gb is a reasonable size of ram which is called memory. If you ask most people today they wont know what the hell optane was for and using it as regular swap space isn't even the intended purpose of it.

It did work better if you weren't using pagefile on your standard HDD. However, if you were using USB 1.1 and 2.0 it was dog shit performance and not really worth it.

The only cool thing about it is using it as swap/paging since it degrades in like 30 years intead of 2-5 and is like 50 times faster than a normal nvme for that usage.
