The industry was already for the most part moving to it as a standard way before the EU mandated it, you are making it seem that it's because of the EU instead of it being a meaningless enforcement. All you could have done is just not buy an iPhone and you would have one cable for all too. Even Apple's Macbooks used usb-c at that point.

The only way to fix it is to get rid of it. USB-C is the worst cable ever. EU communists made everyone's lives worse when they declared that only one standard should exist, and that it should be USB-C. These cables break after only two months of use. This has never happened with Micro-USB or Lightning cables.
