As I recall last time things leaked it was only the mods who can see IPs directly and not jannies. But there was a process the jannies could abuse to do samefag checks. But mod accounts have been compromised for long periods before. It's probably best for nobody to see your IP address. As the other anon said, there are imageboards on Tor and I2P such as Lambdaplusjs. The downside is lower traffic and that you can't really ban spammers, just mitigate them in various ways.
