... in a touristic area, and if everything goes well, might give me a similar level of income as my current one (relatively high for my country) almost immediately, would give me high returns and might even grow fast. I've done some calculations and research, and it seems to be feasible, even though I'm far from expert in any of this.

The thing is, my knowledge of business is limited. I'm not terribly ignorant about numbers and stuff, but I'm just not knowledgeable or experienced (I'm a computer guy, though I do have a little of "third-person experience" and had a veery basic intro to accounting, though I forgot that shit). The initial investment is high and will eat a big percentage of my savings, and half of that would be spent importing some expensive shit from china. Also, if I start this, I might have to leave my job in a couple of months (though that's my goal, because I'm tired of the office politics bs) OR burn some more money to hire someone.

Any pointers/recommentations to learn more about this stuff? What kinda professional should I talk to to help me verify my calculations? Should I not pull the trigger?

>almost immediately

Don't count on it. You're going to get rekt as the economy gets worse and fewer people have less discretionary money to spend.

Now is the worst time to start a business, I've ever seen.

It would be a EV charging business. There are no charging stations around this area even though it gets millions of tourists during summer (I'm in the southern hemisphere). I have a big sunny land where I can get cheap energy, BUT it's not in a great location, though it's close to a well located road that is surrounded by multiple touristic locations. I could expand later and maybe even build a charging station if things go well, otherwise I could just offer "emergency charge" services (those are expensive). I could use this as a test run.

EV sales grew a lot this year, but I live in a small country, so that's not really much. You are right, though, shit is really bad, and EVs are still too fucking expensive for most people. But I could use this to make things a little bit cheaper in my community.

I gotta be honest here: I haven't done any market research. I don't even know how to do that. Just run some surveys? I've been thinking of asking local businesses if they have had clients that owned EVs, and also asking local EV owners directly.

My biggest fears are that I don't know shit about the legal parts of any of this, and also that I might end up being scammed by the chinese "providers" (I'll have to do the DD, of course, though I'm not sure how to verify the chargers before shipping) or by electricians, or having to resell the chargers later because things weren't as good as I thought. The initial expenses are basically 90% of the costs.

You can just google how many EVs are in your area. They typically report that when you register a vehicle. You can also call around to the car rental places and ask if they rent out EVs, how many they have, and their availability.

If you're basing your business on tourism, though, you have to take seriously how much travel will be down with so many people being laid off due to AI and the rising prices from the fuel crisis that will emerge from the situation in Iran. Also, are there any barriers to entry? Can someone else in your area see you doing this and copy it? Can a rental car company, dealership, towing company, or larger charging company come in and put you out of business? Because if they can and it's worth it, they will.
