/o/ doesn't live in the real world. Everyone refuses to acknowledge that the price of used cars has gone up. Any thread discussing price is complete nonsense with retards talking out their ass

Then buy something like a Civic that isn't one of the few years you should avoid that is still going to last. Seeing 300k km on an actually reliable car shouldn't scare you

300000KM bro imagine driving a car that’s 300K+ bro that shit should be taken off the road if anything it doesn’t matter how reliable it is it will always break, it doesn’t matter how we delude ourselves but cars just simply aren’t made for high mileage they’re buy and throw liabilities at the end of day this has only accelerated more in recent years

I bought a 98 Honda Civic at a insurance auction for $600 it only had 130000 miles on it and broken headlight the insurance company totaled it because of a fender bender so far I replaced the headlight bought a couple oil changes and a set of used tires for it had no problems great car now it had over 159000 and still runs great so what if it had a brand on title and a bunch of scratches I got a one owner car for next to nothing

if it was totaled then the frame was likely bent a little bit and the thing about that is that a bent frame means you are much less protected in a future crash but for that price its pretty worth the risk as you will probably be safer as a driver as you age

Insurance totals a car if repairs are more then the value of the car. Repairs cost parts and manhours. That's expensive! So good cars sometimes get totaled. Do you understand?

yeah but at the same time the type of car it was along with the minimal repairs done by the new owner on it likely meant that was what happened

unless the insurance they had was shit they'd likely pay out the 1k or so to get it all replaced if there wasn't frame damage

The depreciation has mostly dropped off it in the first 2 years so it's cheap and the old luddite talking point about needing the battery replaced at great cost has now gone, most batteries will outlast the car.

Yes. Cars are more reliable than ever if you only look at turning on, going and stopping.

Guess what, mileage matters a hell of a lot less than before. 100k miles meant a car was dust 30 years ago, now it's barely middle aged. You can crank out 250k+ on an engine from a half decent brand. Buy something like 10 years old with 100-150k miles, drive it for 5-10 years until you get a stupid big bill enough to buy another car, rinse and repeat.
