I've only ever bought a house cash since I technically don't have a job I don't qualify for a mortgage. My net expenses all in are like 7k a year and every house I've ever bought has so far doubled every time. I'd say this is a better way to do it the only downside is when you wanna move it's a huge hassle. Mortgages do seem kind of retarded though my sister has one and despite her and he husband making close to 200k a year they're somehow just totally broke all the time constantly selling their stuff and complaining etc.

I've never looked at the real math with how a mortgage works but seems like a scam to me. Also don't get it cause they're always talking about how like going from a single digit interest percentage rate here will double the payments etc. I have no clue
