I’d start by buying enough to at least get free shipping if you are buying online. While a lot of people would probably say we are at or near the bottom for the year, I personally would DCA instead of dumping all your cash now. The main thing is not buying more than you can afford so you are never forced to sell at a loss. As for bars or rounds I’d recommend buying what you like, part of the fun of investing in precious metals is physically holding something you like to look at.

Yeah. Often if you go to sell a dealer with just take the bar out of the plastic to test it even. For me my thinking changed with the Perth mint coin bars. A bar with a capsule you can take off like a coin. If a 999.9 pure coin or bar can be handled outside of a capsule, why not any other bar. Some people just want to keep everything in the original packaging though and to each their own, it's your gold:)

It makes sense for proof collectibles, but generic bullion should always be worth spot. If you rub them around too much they might downgrade them to "2nds" but that's 3% at the most. I keep my picrel in cases but I have a stack of naked krugers on my desk I fidget with.

I should have been clearer - I like to hunt for the silver in rolls. It's a stupid little search, I turn them into the bank and lose 0 dollars while I watch a youtube video I was going to anyways. By "stores" I meant local retail shops or larger chains. I can get junk at a local coin shop just fine but I prefer not to pay their huge markup they put on junk specifically.
