>skip college just go into the trades

>NOOOO THIS IS PROPAGANDA YOU MUST GO TO COLLEGE TO STAY WEALTHY AND CULTURALLY RELEVANT

>if you don't go to college you are a part of the disenfranchised underclass

This one always makes me laugh. Do you think the college wagies with $100k+ of perpetual lifetime indentured debt servitude, making $60k/year as an analyst, or consultant, or advisor, or salesman, or engineer, or tech, or human resources, have any cultural power or clout whatever? You're still in the TRADES retard, you're just in the air conditioning.

Meanwhile, who took the actual power? Political power, institutional power. Who is taking over the executive suite? Who is taking over the most important bureaucratic roles? Who is infiltrating the moneypower centers of America?

Your engineer job might as well be landscaping. It can be sent to India tomorrow. It was never about college, it was about the association, to what? To actual power. We need to be keeping businesses in OUR franchise. We need to be keeping politics under OUR power. We need to be rooting out infiltrators.

Yeah university is a scam.

There's probably a world where people pay a fair price for an education (in useful fields) alongside intership style work, but the west is a thousand miles away from that

No it only hit normies like 8 months ago, it was dismissed as some anti intellectual Republican propaganda before. Peter Thiel was some wild contrarian when he made the Thiel Fellowship in 2011.

There's about five dimensions to this.

Level 0 (normies in 2000): College is the way forward to prosperity, everyone should go to college and it's your ticket to a bright future!

Level 1: Well damn that degree in women's lit ain't cuttin the mustard, everyone better major in STEM!!!

Level 2: Holy shit a lot of STEM degrees aren't paying out, better go to the trades!

Level 3 (future normies): Damn, hard to make it in the trades due to the influx in trainees and the fact lots of people suck

Level 4 side observations (Peter Thiel since 2011): College is mostly a waste as credential signaling for employers since we can't directly administer IQ tests. If I can just evaluate talent directly I can get high schoolers doing good shit and skip college altogether.

Level 5 (meta level): Lots of people are fucking stupid and pretending that if we shuffled them through "college" they'd all succeed has had disastrous consequences. Midwits can't keep up with college work, which means buttloads of them fail out and/or college work gets dumbed down such that a degree barely means anything while racking up hundreds of k of college debt the government decided would be a good idea to grant to people regardless of ability or career prospects. Truly talented people can succeed absent college, especially the more alternative paths exist to identify that ability (and not discriminate for lack of a degree). Degrees have been inflated to the point nearly every normal person should not go to a normal college. The merely very bright should still consider an elite college, but consider the value of that prestige may wane shortly. The already elite moneyed class and profoundly gifted can succeed absent any university admissions and will shift as needed, leveraging their connections.

Let me emphasize how profoundly stupid most people are, and point out zoomers and gen alpha are worse and brain rotted to the point basic functioning is a challenge for like 60% of them. Like they can barely do anything without opening their phone, but because they're so brain rotted on overly simplified mobile operating systems they can't even do tech shit other than turn shit on or off or redownload the app.

Thanks to government incentives a high school diploma means someone had a pulse.

People who get buttmad that they'll go into the trades but elites won't miss the fact that elites are their overlords absent any credentialing. When you're at ASU, the elite is at Harvard and you're not the fucking same. Even the rich kid in your dorm at ASU's Daddy has a dealership and it doesn't fucking matter. There's something of an argument to go to MIT or Harvard, but someone actually bright is probably well served to network there for a few months and go to a start-up right away.

Anyways at the root of normies issues are not acknowledging these basic ass truths. There's a huge range of "cognitive differences" (politely, a huge fuckload of people are dumb as rocks, and an enormous number are only slightly brighter than that), and imagining there can be some sort of universal or at least widespread prescription for success through education is an incredibly misguided prospect drawn from correlations (successful people went to college because they had the ability to succeed) and limited job market realities (for a period of time the supply of people capable of doing office work was relatively low and having any college education made someone a standout- now with jeets overseas, dumbed down degrees and just an oversupply of people wanting to sit in an air conditioned office no more)
