Simple sandwich!

There are times when all you want to eat is something simple. I know for some people that might just be a peanut butter and Smucker's sandwich on Wonderloaf, but, for others, it might be an Oscar Meyer hotdog on a bun.

For me, the one that I needed today, was, er, could have been, just a simple bologna and cheese...but I never do anything QUITE that simply. For me, it was a fluffy kaiser roll with mortadella and colby cheese. A nice swirl of mayo filled the void where Salad Cream should have gone, and a spoon of piccalilli gave it a sour crunch.

The piccalilli was just a fortunate bonus because, again, it is almost impossible to get over here. I found some at an international market. But the Branston one was all I had and it has a sour sweetness which helped the mayo seem more like the missing salad cream.

Amusingly, I don't typically have a sandwich for lunch. I either don't have lunch or have something like a hotdog. But I woke up uncharacteristically early this morning and had a pastrami and horseradish cheddar cheese sandwich for breakfast which was very small and it left me hungry in the afternoon. This wasn't surprising since I hardly ate any of my dinner last night, as my previous posts mentioned.
