Hubster and I were in the neighbor's yard...

Long story short they thought we were prowlers but all we wanted was to find some of the plums that had fallen off their tree from off the ground. We did not pick any off the tree. Hubster got scared and ran, Neighbors shot at him but missed. I was there to explain everything and feel nothing but humiliation that we are so broke and could have been killed. Other houses on the block heard the gunshots and came out so now every body knows. I wish I had read your responses to my first posting a few days ago, my sense of humanity and hope in others is severely diminished as a result of this misfortune!!

Creeping around stealing anything, even fallen fruit, is not neighborly or even legal. Not saying you deserved to be shot at, but you could have avoided this.
