BOOM
WHAT a waste
What is that about????
FREEDOM to go BOOM?
BOOM
WHAT a waste
What is that about????
FREEDOM to go BOOM?
that wasn't self inflicted in years. And
'boom goes the dynamite' is cheaper than a back alley whore.
250 year of Independence.
their money. If you get enjoyment out of something and have the cash it's not a waste.
Is it frugal to drive all over to garage sales and Estate sales at today's gas prices?
Garage sale is the step before garbage can.
Some, yes for sure.
Most: No.
Some of the best possessions I own were bought at garage sales at a bargain price.
If it's some trust fund nepo baby that's never done an honest days work in their life they should be on just enough welfare to survive like everyone else that does that.
Else they are thieves and that's everyone's business that accepts money in trade.
I celebrate the 4th by releasing noisy gases from my intestines.
That's been past tense for a long time now.
is freedom frugal?
America is not the only former colony of The United Kingdom to gain independence.
Some like Ireland as well as the United States of America used violence first and foremost. Before even 1776 there was aggressive one-sided violence in the colonies that chose to rebel done by the revolting colonists.
What is now Canada at that time was four colonies which chose not to join the rebellion of 1776.
Colonists would talk about freedom and even put it as a chief law in their Constitutional Charter of 1789, but when some in those 13 colonies expressed a view that violence was wrong, those people were attacked with violence. Some were killed, including women and children. Others disfigured. Thousands fled to those four other colonies.
Irish terrorists in the 19th century acted similarly to the rebels in the 13 colonies. In the 19th century, the Fenian Brotherhood, a precursor to the IRA, set off bombs in what is now Canada. They'd work out of the United States and set off bombs in the British provinces.
And the rebelling colonists actively sought out the other colonies who remained loyal When Americans talk about their Charter Constitution, they are talking about the second one since independence. After independence, for about 8 years there was a first charter. It was actually written (but not able to be enforced) in 1777.
From the United States government itself, this is that document. In 1777, one of the provinces was named Canada. I include article nine, but the rest of it is the original Charter of the independent United States of America:
https://www.archives.gov/milestone-documents/articles-of-confederation
Canada acceding to this confederation, and joining in the measures of the united states, shall be admitted into, and entitled to all the advantages of this union: but no other colony shall be admitted into the same, unless such admission be agreed to by nine states.
Canada gained independence on 1 July 1867 without the violence of the United States of America's independence.
I'd also point out that because Canada remained with Great Britain and then The United Kingdom until that time, slaves in Canada were freed more than a generation earlier than they were in the United States of America. Slaves were freed in The United Kingdom in 1833.
There are a lot of What Ifs, some more sure than others. It's a more likely thing that had the colonies remained, had you not engaged in violence, you would have gained independence in 1867 without the bloodshed of TWO!!! wars:
The 1776 War of Independence
and
The 1860 American Civil War
You would have avoided so much death. You would have also had less racism in the United States towards those of African descent.
You would never have gotten Alaska. Russia sold that the the USA in part because it assumed the USA would never be truly an ally to the UK. But the territory of Canada would be part of the USA
Or rather, the territory of the United States of America would be a part of Canada.
especially in terms of military
But more importantly, that does not dispute what Canada achieved, nor what India achieved, which was not done by violence, nor was it done with the aid of the United States of America.
Freedom is able to be accomplished without gunpowder and without violence.
Canadian history?
I used to watch it every Saturday, and I think I have a VHS copy of 'Strange Brew' around here despite no VCR to play it on anymore.
that isn't required to survive - e.g., perfume, music, books, sports etc.
Maybe you're complaint is really about the boom. Lots of people detest the noise, and cats and dogs, while others like the noise - two nights per year: New Years and July 4. It's OK.
I happen to like fireworks - boom or not. If that's a testosterone thing as other male behaviors are, then I suppose that's how God made me, which is OK with me even if its not acceptable to others. It's not like I'm out slashing tires or assaulting women or invading countries.
when we can't smell our own BO. Same with mouthwash.
Distress those clothes and get greasy, dirty and sweaty and put on some thick work gloves to hide those lazy man hands. You're working hard so that others may free ride. They'd better not disrespect THAT!
