On July 20, Wiki Workers United U.S. asked the Wikimedia Foundation for voluntary recognition as a union, following a similar request from its UK branch in June. The U.S. branch demanded a response by July 24, during the Wikimania conference, but no reply came by that date, despite unionization being discussed at the event.
